An Italian furniture favourite adds its touch to a new Swedish hotel.

B&B Italia has put its modishly fashioned stamp on Gothenberg’s newest chic sleep, as the custom furniture source for the Clarion Hotel Post. The first major Scandinavian hotel project for the Italian luxury furniture group, the newly opened establishment is housed in a neo-classical 1920s-era post office, anointing it with a sense of history. Retaining a contemporary Nordic feel, the opulent 500-room hotel drew on the combined talents of local firm Semrén & Månsson and Norwegian interior designer Anemone Wile Vage.

Contrasts, apparent in the playful disparity between the modern interiors and antiquated exterior or in the form of varying materials and textures, persist throughout the project; functioning as a foil to the neutral-hued flooring, rich imperial colours punctuate the spaces, promoting a strong sense of movement. An elegant combination of fixtures and fabrics handpicked by Vage adds to the ambience of the interiors, as do signature B&B Italia pieces such as the Lutetia Sofa by Antonia Citterio, the Grand Papilio Armchair by Naoto Fukasawa and Patricia Urquiola’s Canasta Lounger. bebitaliacontract.com, clarionhotelpost.com
