Designed by Kevin Lim of Singaporean architecture firm Studio Sklim, The Tastings Room indulges the senses with cleverly partitioned spaces dedicated to cuisine, wine, and an in-between area for the enjoyment of both.
Located at the heart of the financial district, the French-Italian bistro-bar has a dark exterior featuring black diagonal tiles reminiscent of a vintage basket-weave wine holder and the colour of a red wine bottle, while the interior – inspired by the hidden flavours of wine has a monochromatic scheme. Tom Dixon pendant lights hang from the ceiling, and the chairs and tables are solid blonde oak, custom-made in China. The strategically positioned cut-outs in each room serve as visual amuse-bouches, giving a taste of what’s in the next enclosure.
